Meet the Team of The Tenacious Prepared Swans

Angela Foster

Angela Foster is a dedicated professional with a diverse background and a deep commitment to serving her community. Angela's journey began in law enforcement, where she honed her skills and expertise over nine years in various roles within the Alabama Department of Corrections and the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles.

Breaking barriers, Angela made history as the first female Deputy Marshal of the Supreme Court of Alabama-an achievement that reflects her determination and leadership qualities.

In 2021, Angela transitioned into the mental health field, seizing the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. Embracing dual roles as a Substance Abuse Therapist and a Mental Health Family Counselor, Angela found her calling in helping individuals facing complex challenges such as severe mental illnesses, substance use disorders, domestic violence, and homelessness. Her approach is rooted in empathy, integrity, and a strong belief in the power of human connection.

Known for her expertise in case management, intake evaluations, and tailored client assessments, Angela is dedicated to providing holistic care to those in need. Her passion for bridging the gap between therapy and underserved communities underscores her commitment to equity and accessibility in mental health services.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Angela finds joy in staying active, exploring new places through travel, giving back through volunteer work, nurturing her spiritual life through church activities, and cherishing moments with her family and her faithful companion, Halo. Angela's story is a testament to her resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication to empowering individuals to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Dessaraye Lawrence

Born in Jamaica and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Dessaraye Lawrence holds a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Bethune-Cookman University. At 33 years old, Dess is a proud mother of two children, aged 10 and 17, and has spent the past decade committed to supporting children and adolescents in the foster care system, focusing on case management and counseling.

In her free time, Dessaraye enjoys working on her small business, traveling, dancing, and connecting with nature. She also delights in watching "My 600-1b Life" with a box of chocolates by her side. Being a part of the Prepared Swans organization has been a profound blessing, enabling Dess to guide young women toward success and instill in them the belief that with faith, determination, and support, they can achieve anything. Watching these young ladies grow into their true selves has been one of the most fulfilling experiences in her life.

Karen Mitchell

Karen Mitchell was born in the Caribbean and raised in Miami, Florida, which has provided her with a rich blend of diverse cultural experiences that shape both her personal and professional life. She is a dedicated mother of two wonderful children, ages 12 and 17, and her family is at the heart of everything she does.

Karen has built a strong career in healthcare and management, earning an associate's degree in surgical technology and a bachelor's degree in organizational leadership and healthcare leadership. Currently, she is furthering her education by pursuing a master's degree in organizational leadership. With many years of leadership experience, Karen is deeply committed to fostering collaboration and building strong partnerships to drive meaningful change within her field.

Balancing her academic and professional pursuits, Karen also nurtures her love for adventure and the outdoors. Her fun and outgoing personality shines through in her hobbies, which include gardening, attending festivals, and traveling. Karen thrives on meeting new people and exploring new experiences, always bringing a sense of curiosity and joy to everything she does.

Michelle Montique

Michelle Montique is an Army brat who has traveled the world, embracing every moment of the journey. Michelles experiences have shaped who I am today, and I have earned several degrees along the way, including general science, general education, forensic science, and a minor in business psychology. With a background deeply rooted in Criminal Justice Business Administration, I began my academic journey at Fayetteville Technical Community College, continued at Fayetteville State University, and later advanced my studies at the University of Phoenix. I am a proud mother to a beautiful 21-year-old daughter, who is about to graduate with a degree in psychology. My career initially focused on criminal justice, but after moving from North Carolina to Georgia in 2013, my heart led me to foster children in need. Opening my heart and home to children at some of the hardest moments of their lives became a calling, and I continue to find fulfillment in providing support and care during their most challenging times. When I am not working on my business, I enjoy reading, traveling, trying new things, and meeting new people. Living life to its fullest is important to me, and writing is my true passion-it takes me to another place and allows me to express my creativity. Being a part of the Prepared Swans organization is an incredible opportunity. It allows me to contribute to something greater by helping young ladies discover their full potential, their uniqueness, and the power within themselves. As a united group, we show them that whatever they set their hearts and minds on, they can achieve, and we are there to support them every step of the way. Watching these young women grow, mature, and thrive is the greatest reward, and as we say, "Swans Stick Together".

The Lamour Way

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.
